Are you counting down the days till your Bolly Dancing trial class with us? Well, this is the one-stop shop for everything you’ll want to know to make the best of this experience. From how the trial class offer works to what to wear for your class, we’ll help you get ready for a host of fun. Also, remember to share this with the friends you’re hoping will join you for the first class.

1. What to wear

The most important thing to keep in mind when picking out an outfit is that you should feel absolutely comfortable in it. So ditch the jeans and tight-fitted pants for stretchable leggings, shorts or track pants. Find something you feel confident in! And we would advise not wearing brand-new shoes to class–you’ll definitely want to break them in first to avoid any discomfort.

2. Before time is on time

There is a changing room in the studio in case you’re coming from work or have plans after the class. There’s also a washroom for you to freshen up in and you can also buy water in case you’re not carrying your own. We advise everyone to reach at least 10 minutes before the class is set to begin–this ensures you’re not feeling rushed and don’t miss the instructor’s introduction at the beginning. This will also give you a chance to speak to other members of our friendly community and chat with our instructors, who are approachable and always there to help you with anything.

3. A bit about equipment

Depending on the class you sign up for, you may get to use some tools for the class. For example, our Bollydazz class uses some lightweight dumbbells and resistant tubes. For Tone & Burn, we use lightweight dumbbells and Zumba toning sticks for the Zumba toning class. Don’t worry–it’s all still beginner friendly and our experienced instructors will ensure you know how to use these correctly. If you have any questions regarding the classes, you can always reach out to us here.

4. Remember why you’re there

Your first class can be many things–fun, challenging, energetic, and exhausting. It’s a whole new world opening up to you so it can be a tiny bit overwhelming. But remember that you’re there to try something new! While the classes are designed to be beginner-friendly, it’s absolutely okay if you don’t get a move on the first try or make a few mistakes–as long as you enjoy yourself, you can stay assured that, with a few more sessions, the steps will come naturally!

5. Don’t feel intimidated

Exercise classes like Bolly Dazz Fitness and Zumba don’t have continuity but some people may find it a bit intimidating when attending a class for the first time. The instructor may not be able to stop in the middle of a routine to explain the step in case you falter as the heart rate will start to drop. But don’t panic—you can take a second to reorient yourself and pick up the steps when you can. With practice, it becomes much easier! You just have to give yourself some time.

In case you still have doubts, there’s an alternative! Dance classes like Bolly Dancing Choreo have continuity. We practice a song over three weeks, so it’s best to join in week one. Since there are two classes a week, you’ll get the opportunity to attend both to get enough practice. A practice video is also uploaded on YouTube so you can practice more at home.
